Tom Miles

Scholarship Provided by: State Government of Victoria, Department of Education and Training in 2017.

Tom is a carpenter employed by his father’s company, Miles & Co Builders, a high-end building company in Ballarat.

He attended Federation University achieving Certificate lV in Building and Construction in 2015. His teaching staff have recommended him for an AOF award, saying he is a humble person who is high on integrity with strong characteristics. He is a particularly family orientated person.

Tom has been involved in many Community activities raising funds for projects. He has been active in the St Vincent de Paul organisation in various capacities.

In the sporting arena he is an active participant completing the Lorne Pier to Pub swim. He achieved U16 Best and Fairest for the Redan Football Club in 2011, as well as he has captained volleyball teams to a premiership. Besides all of these activities he achieved Certificate ll in Sport and Recreation.

Currently he has taken on a personal project in central Ballarat, refurbishing and fitting out a 100 year old home with a heritage overlay.

Tom has a desire to go to a European country where he would learn the latest and alternative building techniques.
